Wharves and Jetties

Brady Marine & Civil have core capabilities in the construction of wharves and jetties.

Our fleet of equipment includes large construction barges, cranes and piling hammers which, when combined with our experienced personnel, enables us to self-construct wharf projects of significant size and technical complexity.

Wharf projects delivered to date have included the $33M General Purpose Wharf  at Port of Brisbane, constructed by Smithbridge Australia in 2008/2009.

This 213m long x 30m wide wharf was constructed to a tight program and included almost 300 driven steel pipe piles and an 800mm thick reinforced concrete deck.

The majority of works were self-constructed.  Our barge Maeve Anne was set up with leaders for pile driving, and we designed and delivered a unique "floating formwork" system to deal with the unusually low wharf deck levels.

Also through sister company Smithbridge Australia, we are currently delivering wharves 11 and 12 for the Port of Brisbane, a total quay length of almost 700 metres.  Completion of both wharves is expected in late 2012.

Jetty construction involves similar equipment and methodologies.

For jetties, our temporary bridge system is ideal for enabling construction access through tidal zones, with minimal impact in these environmentally sensitive areas.

Our success (through Smithbridge Australia) in 2008 at Woody Point in constructing a 220m fishing jetty over tidal flats illustrates our ability to develop and deliver an appropriate and cost-effective methodology.
