The first Ro-Ro vessel docked at the Port of Mackay today utilising wharf upgrades undertaken by Brady Marine & Civil for North Queensland Bulk Ports.

The contract has included fender upgrades on both wharfs 4 and 5, together with modifications to facilitate the berthing and unloading of Ro-Ro vessels.

The design of the upgrade includes new, modern dual cone fenders, designed to increase port capacity and to accommodate larger vessels. New fenders are fitted to large precast concrete panels which hang from the existing wharf, with steel struts extending back under the wharf to clamp-style supports on existing piles.

Wharf 4 upgrade works are nearing completion while wharf 5 will be completed in the coming months.
