AJ Wylie Bridge

Date: 2012
Project: AJ Wylie Bridge
Location: Petrie, Brisbane
Value: $9M
Client: TMR / McIlwain Civil

Contract works included the demolition of the original AJ Wylie bridge and replacement with a new structure, approx. 100m long. The original bridge was built in 1934 but was damaged by flood waters associated with the Brisbane floods in January 2011.

Construction was facilitated by first building a temporary bridge upstream of the old bridge and using this for equipment to access the demolition and new construction processes. The new bridge features bored piles socketed into rock, reinforced concrete headstocks, cast insitu, precast deck planks with an insitu topping slab. Works were delivered in joint venture with McIlwain Civil.
