We are pleased to announce our success at this year’s Earth Awards, with the Rubyanna River Discharge project collecting the Category 2 award at the Civil Contractors Federation Queensland awards last Friday night.

The design & construct project included a number of innovative features which caught the eye of the judges, including:

  • Leaving the existing shoreline untouched by utilising a trenchless technology to feed the dual pipelines into the deeper sections of the river
  • Optimising the number and size of the pipelines and supporting piles
  • Eliminating a need for dredging or scour rock placement over the discharge length
  • Reuse of existing GRP pipes for the de-aeration structure

Executive Director Paul Brady and General Manager David Brough were pleased to accept the award on the night, alongside key staff members Ramesh Nair and Glynnis Williams, together with representatives from our designer SMEC and key subcontractor Pipeline Drillers.  As Queensland winners we now head to Canberra for the National finals to be held on 21 November.

An executive summary of the project can be seen here.
